This year will be the official fourth year Chapin High School has had a Speech and Debate Team.  This will be Mrs. Vasquez's, the Chapin Debate Team Coach, second year leading the organization.  Hopefully with the addition of a debate class the membership this year will be much higher than previous years.

 

Speech and debate is all about oratory and presentation, whether it be through acting and writing or speech and hand motions.  Through the various tournaments held by schools throughout El Paso, members of the Speech and Debate Team at Chapin are able to participate in a plethora of competitions.  These include C-X Debate, LD Debate, Student Congress, and many, many more.

 

I personally hope that this year will be highlighted by an increase in membership and participation in tournaments as well as numerous victories in all fields of speech and debate.
